Woman Pleads Guilty in Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin, Crack
United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today, July 24, 2009, that on July 23, Tracy J. Walters, a resident of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine base, commonly known as "crack."
Walters, age 26, pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson.
In connection with the guilty plea, Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., advised the court that from January 2007 to August 7, 2007, Walters conspired with five co-defendants to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and five grams or more of cocaine base.
Judge Gibson scheduled sentencing for November 9, 2009, at 11 a.m. The law provides for a total sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, the Cambria County Drug Task Force, and the Johnstown Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the prosecution of Walters.
