PHILADELPHIA MAN GETS 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CONSPIRING TO DISTRIBUTE HEROIN

United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today, August 26, 2008, that Luis Alberto Serrano, a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 10 years' imprisonment, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release, on his conviction of violating the federal drug laws.
United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence on Serrano, age 34.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti, from in or around 2005 and continuing thereafter to on or about March 15, 2007, in the Western District of Pennsylvania and elsewhere, Serrano and others conspired to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute one (1) kilogram or more of heroin.
Ms. Buchanan commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the West Mifflin Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Serrano.
