JOHNSTOWN MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CONSPIRING TO DISTRIBUTE COCAINE

United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today, April 4, 2008, that Andrew S. Edwards, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Johnstown to 121 months imprisonment and five years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal narcotics laws.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed sentence on Edwards, age 22.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., from May 4, 2004, to December 6, 2005, Edwards, along with  other co-defendants, conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base and more than 500 grams of cocaine.

Ms. Buchanan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, the Cambria County Drug Task Force, and the Johnstown Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Edwards.
