AMBRIDGE MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today, May 20, 2008, that Lawrence Laughlin of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 24 months imprisonment, followed by 10 years of supervised release, on his conviction to a charge of possession of child pornography.

United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Laughlin, age 62.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman, Laughlin possessed approximately 138 images of child pornography in December 2006.

Ms. Buchanan commended the  Federal Bureau of Investigation, assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police, the Beaver County District Attorney's Office, and the Ambridge Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Lawrence Laughlin.
